We've tried fish at many Greek restaurants, as well as at similar establishments in Saint-Tropez, the French Riviera, and many other destinations, all the way to the Azores. This mention is not for the purpose of showing off travel experience, but to demonstrate that Thessaloniki has a fish restaurant where, in all those areas, nothing superior was found – with the sole exception of Varoulko – except in cases where oysters were the requirement.

One might reasonably wonder why so much emphasis is placed on a restaurant located in a city literally in the sea, and moreover, one that boasts one of the most famous fish markets in the country, Michaniona. Therefore, the one thing that is certainly not lacking in Thessaloniki is fish.

The question that arises naturally is: «Why, then, does Miami stand out?»

The answer is based on at least three reasons. Firstly, Miami is in direct contact with the sea, which in some cases reaches out to «touch» visitors when the passage of large ships creates waves. Secondly, the restaurant is characterized by a dual environment: one is more casual, but always with an urban aura by the water, ideal for leisurely meals, and the second is purely urban, with the seriousness of a good restaurant, without, however, the feeling of being stuffy.

The third reason has flesh and blood and is embodied by Chef Sofia Teftsi, the person in charge of Miami's culinary offerings. Her presence is not just a well-known name, but is tangibly reflected in the dishes. Possessing both the necessary technical knowledge and palate sensitivity, she manages to present food that is, above all, delicious – a fundamental element in the evaluation of any dish. At the same time, her recommendations incorporate the essential element of modern gastronomy, with balanced modern touches and ingredient combinations that reveal a spirit of exploration and an ability to synthesize.

Regarding the menu, Miami is a pure seafood restaurant, which also offers one or two meat options exclusively for those who – for personal or other reasons – do not choose fish. Otherwise, the range starts with raw fish in different versions, continues with portioned seafood, and concludes with the classic grill. Thus, anyone who loves fish, regardless of preparation method, is sure to be satisfied.
