Who We Are

The FLAGUIDES are a creation of the culinary portal FLAGinLIFE. Their existence is based on the collective work and many years of experience of the site's journalistic staff. www.flaginlife.gr which specializes in the area of taste.

The main characteristic of FLAGUIDES | www.flaguides.gr is that they do not aspire to be general directories of restaurants in Greece. According to available demographic statistics, there are approximately 5,000 dining establishments in Athens and Thessaloniki alone, primarily restaurants and tavernas. All-day cafes and street food or fast food outlets are not included. Many of these have a local or neighborhood character, offering satisfactory quality to their patrons, but without broader interest for those seeking authentic, flavorful experiences and a high-quality atmosphere.

Leveraging the 50 years of experience of Dionysios Koukis, founder of the first restaurant awards institutions in Greece, and the expertise of his journalistic team, FLAGUIDES were designed to precisely meet this need: to highlight restaurants and places that offer truly delicious food, high quality, and a unique experience for every visitor.

Inclusion of Spots in the Guide

Our many years of experience in the culinary field, as journalists, critics-evaluators, and marketers, combined with an in-depth study of available data, have led us to a clear conclusion: the number of restaurants worth seeking out for a night out, with undoubtedly interesting characteristics and that go beyond the ordinary, does not exceed 300, with minor possible variations.

FLAGUIDES' ambition is to examine all well-known and well-known restaurants, and to discover those that may not be widely known, but meet high standards of recognition. Quality, taste, and atmosphere criteria, based on which they are evaluated and recommended to every consumer and friend of taste.

The FLAGUIDE Greece Selected Restaurants of Quality is sufficient as a search tool, with the inclusion of at least 120 establishments. These top venues have already been gathered and evaluated, ensuring that their presence in the guide offers every consumer a comprehensive, reliable, and high-quality dining experience.

Restaurant Listing Requirements & Criteria in the Guide

The guide includes dining establishments (restaurants, tavernas, bars, all-day and street food places) that the FLAGinLIFE editorial team deems capable of contending for at least the Citation distinction from the FLAGinLIFE Awards.

Geographic and qualitative balance:

Spaces that meet the above condition may not be included in the guide if, at the discretion of FLAGinLIFE, they disrupt the spatial balance or lead to an overconcentration of points in an area. This choice ensures that the limited number of spots in the guide is used in the most effective way, in order to cover as many interesting options as possible for the consumer.

Free and upgraded presentation

All eligible venues are included in the guide for free, ensuring a balance in terms of cuisine type and area. At the same time, those who wish can obtain a detailed and in-depth presentation, with greater content visibility, for a small reciprocal cost (approximately €3 per day).
